Our story

A Family-Run Business Since 2012

My names AbdulHafeez, the founder of Nature’s Cupboard and Alternate Therapy. Established in 2012, Nature's Cupboard is a family-run business the first dedicated natural health and wellbeing store in Batley, proudly serving the local community with naturally sourced and ethically supplied products.

What began with just two products—honey and black seed oil—sold from a living room has grown into a thriving natural health business offering more than 400 selected products.

The journey started while working full-time at Sainsbury's, building the business during evenings and weekends. As demand increased, the operation quickly outgrew the living room and moved into a purpose-built cellar, allowing the range to expand gradually with the addition of premium honeys, natural oils and other health products. Eventually, the business reached a point where it was possible to leave full-time employment and dedicate all efforts to growing it.

In 2016, the business took a significant leap by moving into its first retail shop. It was an exciting but uncertain step, with no guarantee that the loyal customer base would follow. Fortunately, the move proved successful and the business continued to flourish. Continued growth led to a further expansion in 2020, with the addition of a second unit to accommodate increasing demand and a growing range of products and services.

A passion for natural health began at a young age. After experiencing chronic migraines throughout childhood, regular visits to chiropractors and osteopaths sparked a fascination with holistic healthcare and the body's natural ability to heal. That early interest developed into a lifelong commitment to helping others improve their wellbeing through natural approaches.

As a fourth-generation practitioner, this work is built on a strong family heritage of natural health and hands-on care. Alongside practical experience, professional knowledge has been strengthened through earning a Diploma in Herbal Medicine from the College of Naturopathic Medicine. However, learning never stops. Ongoing training, research and professional development remain central to ensuring customers receive the best possible advice and access to the latest developments in natural health.

Today, the business has grown from its humble beginnings into a trusted destination for natural health, with more than 400 products and a commitment to continually expanding knowledge, improving services and supporting the wellbeing of every customer.
